War in Iraq

This posting is the first in what I hope to be many postings and replys to come. In this posting I am going to give my views of the Iraq war.

Whatever you think of the war, the one thing that is not in question is the continuation of it. This war is going to be fought not only by our children but their children also. This war is unlike any other that this country has ever been involved in. This war we are in is a fight for our very survival as both a people and a nation.

Let's get one thing straight right off, we won the war in Iraq. What is going on at this time is a losing of the peace. We did not go in with sufficient assets to hold the peace once we won the war. the fighting we are doing now is strictly terror related. The Iraqi military was defeated and disbanded within weeks of the comencement of the war. The enemy we are now fighting is not only engaging us, but the Iraqi military as well.

For those of you who think that we should not have gone into Iraq in the first place, you may be right. But, the fact of the matter is that we are there and we cannot leave under any circumstances. If we were to leave, it would create a vacuum that Iran would move in and fill. If that were to happen, it would create a terrorist state that would allow groups like al-quida to train and plan for their next attack. To allow this would be paramount to suicide.

The other reason we will not leave is the fact that this is the first time in our history that we have a military presence in the middle east. Make no mistake, we will not give that advantage up for any reason. This is the first time we have the ability to react in a military capacity to events that may arise. We will not give up that advantage for anything, nor do I think we should.
